Working Holiday Makers Tax Tables

The new tax table for Backpackers is available in this release. For more information on this tax table, and registering to use it, please see the ATO website. Once registered, the new tax table can be enabled in your portal by going to Config > Payroll > Tax Tables. Once enabled it will be available on Employee profiles.

Please note that this tax operates in a different manner to other tax tables. The tax applies to all taxable earnings under $37,000 each year rather than a pro-rata amount in each pay period. This means you will need to monitor the YTD balances for employees on this table and shift them to the Foreign Resident table once they have been paid $37,000.

We strongly recommend you review the ATO website with regards to this new tax table and ensure you continue to check the visa status of all employees as part of your ongoing compliance processes.
